The Process

Destination Downtown is a long-term project to help define a desired future vision for Downtown, and identify potential opportunities and strategies for strengthening Downtown's role in the Meridian community and Treasure Valley. CRSA plans to build on Meridian’s former successes and processes, identify community assets and opportunities, and channel them to guide future growth and change in the community. Focusing on the desire for intergenerational experiences by Meridian’s citizens, Destination Downtown will focus on making downtown the hub of entrepreneurial, social and community activities.

The goal for this planning effort is to develop a Master Plan that identifies the major components of the community's vision for Downtown, as well as strategies and recommendations for implementing that vision. The final product will include:

• Future land uses and zoning recommendations
• Urban design standards and potential design themes
• Economic development opportunities and strategies
• Parking recommendations and strategies
• Mobility recommendations and plans

CRSA projects the final plan to be done in early 2010, with extensive market research and public involvement beginning in September 2009
